Going Big

I guess you could say that asking God for something is a matter of faith. You have to believe that God is and that He hears and that He will give you what you ask for. You have to believe that you’re asking with the right motives and in according with God’s will even if you aren’t exactly sure what that is. You have to believe that when you get what you ask for it will bring glory to God. You have to believe that there’s not limit on what you can ask for. You have to believe that a ‘not right now’ or ‘no’ is a possible answer. Even if that is the answer, you have to believe that everything will turn out o.k. even if that means seperation from a loved one for the rest of your life. You have to believe you are honoring Jesus’ name. But you must ask God because it is that easy and it is that tough.

It just doesn’t do to not ask because you’re not sure. Are you not sure you’ll get what you’re asking for? Are you not sure anybody is listening? Are you not sure that God even cares? Not sure will certainly get you nowhere.

It shouldn’t be rare for Christians to get what they ask for. It shouldn’t be rare for a Christian to be unselfish. it shouldn’t be rare for a Christian to be certain.

My last church was big on praying for impossible things. They were short for a certain payment and it came in down to last penny at the very last minute. They also feature a ministry geared toward freeing slaves that has recently gained attention of the local Christian colleges. Nothing is impossible for God, movie or not. Now tell me, what can you ask of God?

  1. True the things I ask God for tend to be big things. Whether I actually get what I ask for or not depends on how you look at it. For example I often ask God to heal the great rift in this country. Though I have yet to see it happen, I do get opportunities like the one this past sunday. Then as icing on the cake, a lot of people told me they really got something from the sermon.I think that’s a little peice of getting the rift healed. And even better I get to be a part of that.
